• Shalya Tantra is one of the eight wings of Ayurveda that deals with surgically curable disorders of humans. Shalya Tantra department of the AIIA, Goa is one of the most accessed units of the hospital. Department of Shalyatantra, AIIA, Goa has created its identity and popularity in Goa and neighboring states by providing promising services and clinical care.
• The department is committed to provide the necessary health care services in form of OPD, IPD, Operative and Para-operative units. Department of Shalyatantra is running to 1 clinical OPD- General surgery OPD currently. In future, there is a plan of developing 4 OPD units, which will run simultaneously in OPD hours of the institute. They are; 1. Samanya Shalya Vikar/General Surgery; 2. Gud Rog / Ano-rectal OPD, 3. Asthi Sandhi Marma Vikar/ Orthopedic and Marma OPD and 4. Vrna Vikar/ Wound Care OPD.
• In General surgery OPD we provide primary care and OPD level management to the surgically curable diseases including diagnosis and management.
• Department of Shalyatantra is also providing para surgical treatment in form of Agnikarma (Therapeutic Heat burns), Raktamokshana (Therapeutic Bloodletting) in form of Siravedha (Vein puncture), Jalaukavacharan (Therapeutic leech application), Shring Yantra (Cupping Therapy) and Kshara Karma (Therapeutic application of caustic material) services.
• Department of Shalya Tantra will be providing surgical treatments with minor and major surgeries. Department is developing its Modular Operative unit and CSSD (Central Sterilization Service Department) in the hospital.
• The department is having its ksharasutra Laboratory and will be providing highly demanded treatment modality of Shalyatantra- Kshara Sutra Therapy in very near future.
