INTRODUCTION:

Kriya Sharir subject provides the ground base knowledge of body, mind & senses functions and

dysfunctions which helps in critical understanding of disease process and insight to disease

management and prevention. Kriya Sharir is the core of Ayurveda wisdom. Its enormous

contribution is responsible for the growth of Ayurveda based assessments and clinical

management.

This Department deals with the basic concepts, knowledge, and applicability of Tridosha the Vata,Pitta and Kapha, Sapta Dhatus, Malas, Prakriti, Mana, Nidra, Oja etc. The etio-pathogenesis ofdisease cannot be explained unless Dosha-dhatu-malas is assessed subjectively & objectively. Thissubject therefore is the base for proper understanding of Ayurveda and is of great importance for a medical student to understand all other para -clinical and clinical subjects.

Vision:

The goal of Kriya Sharir undergraduate course in the subject of Kriya Sharir at AIIA, Goa

is to produce Competent, Confident, Compassionate and Concerned human who can deliver ethical Āyurvedic medical care by educating new generation in all the domains.

To be committed to endeavor excellence in Kriya Sharir education as well as outstanding research to obtain optimum level of knowledge of the phenomenon, theories, terminologies, definitions their skillful practical applicability and execution. In the long run the basic development of the subject will be helpful in better patient care.

Mission:

To bring about innovation in Ayurveda medical education in the subject of Kriya Sharir

based on health sciences education technology. Innovative Research to benefit the development

of the subject for better preventive care of human health.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Prepare the under-graduates in the basic understanding of the principles of Kriya Sharir by

bringing about innovation and excellence in Teaching – Learning and Research

  • To redevelop Validated tools to assess the Prakriti Tridosha, Sapta Dhatus, malas, Agni,

Srotas etc. based on concepts of Ayurveda and modern technology and research in better

understanding of the Physiology in Ayurveda.

  • To develop a model center for fundamental research in Ayurveda by developing

Ayurveda Physiology Lab with modern Haematology & Urology lab, Histology Lab,

Advanced Human Physiology Lab, Virtual Lab.

  • To organize departmental, national as well as international seminars for the exchange of

knowledge. And capacity building.

  • To supplement patient care in association with clinical departments and interdisciplinary

collaborative research by developing the Departmental Labs – Teaching & fundamental

Research.
