Agada Tantra is an important field of Ayurveda that deals with identifying, preventing, diagnosing, and treating various types of Visha conditions. These include animate, inanimate, subclinical, residual, and cumulative toxicological presentations. This vast domain covers a wide range of topics, from managing poisoning to addressing cancer, dermatological manifestations, and substance abuse. The department also focuses on handling snake and insect bites and conducts various research activities to develop new and effective treatments for acute and chronic poisoning and other conditions caused by visha.
Our faculty is committed to training Ayurvedic practitioners in diagnosing and managing poisoning, dermatological manifestations, drug induced toxicities, substance abuse, cancer, chronic toxicities from various chemicals. Additionally, we strive to educate the public about preventive measures to avoid toxic exposure, cancer, and substance abuse.

The department aims to develop new and innovative treatments for poisoning and dermatological conditions, cancer, and substance abuse and to raise awareness about preventive measures to reduce the incidence of such diseases.
Mission
To educate and train Ayurvedic practitioners in managing poisoning and emergency medical conditions, conduct research to advance the field of Ayurvedic toxicology, and provide high-quality clinical care to patients suffering from such conditions. The department also aims to collaborate with other institutions and organizations to promote the integration of Ayurveda into modern medicine and public health programs.
Our objectives are as follows:
– To conduct scientific research and validate the effectiveness of Agada in treating Garavisha and Dooshivisha.
– To scientifically validate the efficacy of various Agada formulations in treating snake and insect bites.
– To establish the principles of Agada Tantra for the treatment of skin diseases, cancer, substance abuse and drug induced toxicities.
– To conduct a survey of traditional Visha Chikithsa practices.
– To establish a Toxicovigilance center for monitoring and managing cases of toxicity.
The department also organizes visits Snake Park, Forensic Science Laboratories, State Pollution Control Board, Court visits, Industries, Folklore Practitioners, Surveys, Food Adulteration Testing Centers and many more. These visits help the students update and understand Agada Tantra’s relevance to modern health and lifestyle. With this knowledge, the students are encouraged to practice Agada Tantra with concepts of Garavisha Dooshivisha. They can create awareness of increasing trends of chemical biomagnification in the food chain and ecosystem.
