The All India Institute of Ayurveda, Goa, marked its 4th Foundation Day on 11th December 2025 at the AIIA Hospital Lounge.
We were honoured by the presence of Shri Sunil Kumar Singh, Director, National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, as the Chief Guest.
The Presidential Address was delivered by Prof. Vd. Pradeep Kumar Prajapathi, while Prof. Dr. Sujata Kadam, Dean, AIIA Goa, warmly welcomed the gathering.
The event also featured the inauguration of the Workshop on Preparation of Integrative Protocol for Colorectal Carcinoma.
Prof. Dr. Mohan Joshi concluded the programme with the Vote of Thanks.

Six-Day CME Program for Teachers of Rachana Sharir
Theme: Enhancing Teaching and Research Competence in Rachana Sharir
Introduction
The Department of Rachana Sharir, All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, successfully organized a six-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) program for teachers of Rachana Sharir from 8th to 13th September 2025. The CME was designed to provide participants with comprehensive exposure to advanced anatomical knowledge, practical demonstrations, and innovative teaching methodologies.
The program was uniquely structured to integrate traditional concepts of Ayurveda Sharir with modern anatomical approaches, including radiological imaging, plastination, embalming, and virtual dissection techniques.
Additionally, the CME emphasized faculty skill development by encouraging innovative classroom practices, hands-on training, and critical discussions on research opportunities in the field of Rachana Sharir.
Objectives of the CME
- To strengthen teachers’ understanding of classical concepts of Rachana Sharir in the light of modern anatomical science.
- To impart practical exposure to advanced dissection methods, embalming, plastination, and virtual learning.
- To introduce modern diagnostic and imaging techniques relevant to anatomical teaching.
- To foster research aptitude and microteaching skills among faculty members.
- To provide a platform for academic exchange between experts and participants across the country.
Day-Wise Academic Highlights
Day 1 – Monday, 8th September 2025
The program commenced with registration and a formal inauguration.
- Session 1: Prof. Mahantesh B. Ramannavar delivered a lecture on the Dehadan Procedure and Anatomy Act, focusing on the ethical and legal aspects of cadaver donation.
- Session 2: Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Yadav conducted a Lumbar Puncture Demonstration and Spinal Cord Dissection, emphasizing clinical relevance.
- Session 3: Prof. Ramannavar demonstrated Foetal Dissection and Mounting, highlighting developmental anatomy.
- Session 4: Dr. Swati Bedekar presented on Typical Dissection of the Abdomen, integrating clinical correlations with Ayurveda anatomy.
Day 2 – Tuesday, 9th September 2025
- Session 1: Dr. Swati Bedekar discussed Radiological Anatomy and Imaging Techniques, stressing their utility in teaching and diagnostics.
- Special Interaction: Prof. Dr. Krishna Garg, Ex-Professor and Head, Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, and Chief Editor of BD Chaurasia’s Textbook of Anatomy, interacted with the participants and shared her valuable experiences, inspiring faculty to enhance their teaching and research approaches.
- Sessions 2 & 3: Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma elaborated on Tantra Sharir and Granthi Sharir, revisiting classical texts with modern interpretations.
- Session 4: Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Yadav explained Srotas Sharir, enhancing understanding of body channels in relation to physiology and pathology.
Day 3 – Wednesday, 10th September 2025
- Session 1: Prof. Nilesh Korde presented on the Practical Relevance of Marma Sharir, emphasizing surgical and clinical perspectives.
- Session 2: Prof. Sunil Kumar Yadav conducted a session on Advanced Teaching Modules with Virtual Tools, providing hands-on training with virtual anatomy software.
- Session 3: Prof. Korde elaborated on the Concept of Praman Sharir, linking ancient measurement principles with modern anthropometry.
- Session 4: Prof. Sunil Kumar Yadav demonstrated Embalming and Specimen Mounting Techniques, ensuring effective preservation for teaching.
- Special Event: A video prepared by the students of the Department of Rachana Sharir, highlighting the journey of the department—a chronicle till date—was released by Prof. Sujatha, Dean, AIIA Goa.
Day 4 – Thursday, 11th September 2025
- Session 1: Prof. Seetharam M. conducted a detailed Craniotomy and Head-Neck Dissection.
- All participants also visited the AIIA Hospital, where they observed its functioning and the wide range of facilities being provided to the public by AIIA Goa.
- Session 2: Prof. Yogesh Badwe demonstrated Layer-wise Dissection on Cadaver, highlighting surgical incisions.
- Session 3: Prof. Badwe continued with Special Methods of Dissection and In-vivo Anatomical Study of neurovascular bundles, muscles, and anatomical triangles, enhancing clinical correlation.
- In the evening session, the faculty of the Department of Rachana Sharir conducted a hands-on training session on the Virtual Dissection Table at the Virtual Lab. Participants actively explored and experienced this advanced digital anatomy learning tool.
Day 5 – Friday, 12th September 2025
- Session 1: Prof. Kalpana Raje trained participants in Plastination Techniques and Specimen Mounting, a modern method for long-term preservation.
- Sessions 2 & 3: Prof. Saroj Patil discussed Applications of Rachana Sharir in Ayurveda and Comparative Considerations of Sandhi Sharir, merging classical understanding with biomechanics and orthopaedics.
Day 6 – Saturday, 13th September 2025
- Session 1: Dr. Sudhir Kumar guided teachers on How to Teach Garbha Sharir from an Ayurveda Perspective, focusing on pedagogy.
- Sessions 2 & 3: Prof. Royana Singh conducted Microteaching Sessions on Research Areas in Rachana Sharir along with a Practical Histology Demonstration.
- Session 4: Dr. Sudhir Kumar presented on Kala & Twacha Sharir, explaining the Ayurvedic description of body layers.
The program concluded with a Valedictory Function, where learnings were summarized and certificates were distributed.
Unique Features of the Program
- Integration of Ayurveda and Modern Anatomy: Balanced emphasis on classical concepts (Marma, Srotas, Praman) alongside modern anatomical methods.
- Hands-on Practical Sessions: Live dissections, embalming, plastination, histology, and imaging exposure.
- Pedagogical Innovations: Training in microteaching, virtual anatomy tools, and research methodology.
- Expert Faculty: Eminent speakers from across India enriched the sessions with their expertise.
- Distinguished Guest Interaction: The presence of Prof. Dr. Krishna Garg, a stalwart in the field of anatomy, added immense value by sharing her vast teaching and editorial experience.
- Outcome-Oriented Approach: Designed to enhance both subject knowledge and teaching methodologies for Ayurveda anatomy faculty.
Conclusion
The six-day CME program for Teachers of Rachana Sharir was a comprehensive academic initiative that successfully bridged the gap between Ayurveda Sharir and modern anatomical sciences. Through a blend of lectures, demonstrations, virtual training, and hands-on sessions, participants not only deepened their subject knowledge but also enhanced their pedagogical and research skills.
This CME marked a significant step in upgrading the academic standards of Ayurveda education, empowering teachers to integrate classical wisdom with modern anatomical insights, ultimately benefiting both students and the healthcare system.
